Ingredients

  • For the Dough:
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour This is your base providing the perfect texture for a crispy crust.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar—helps activate the yeast and adds a hint of sweetness to balance the flavors.
  • 1 packet active dry yeast—the key ingredient for that light airy, and crispy pizza dough.
  • 1 teaspoon salt: Enhances all the flavors in the dough and keeps it balanced.
  • ¾ cup warm water—activates the yeast and helps form the dough.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil: adds richness and helps the dough achieve a crisp finish when baking.
  • For the Sauce:
  • ½ cup tomato sauce Choose a halal-friendly version or make your own with fresh tomatoes and spices.
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano—for that classic pizza flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder—adds savory depth to the sauce.
  • Salt and pepper to taste; adjust based on your preferences.
  • For the toppings:
  • cups shredded mozzarella cheese—the melt-in-your-mouth cheese that holds everything together.
  • 1 cup halal chicken or beef slices Feel free to use any halal protein of your choice from halal pepperoni to grilled chicken.
  • ½ cup sliced bell peppers—for a burst of color and crunch.
  • 1 small onion thinly sliced—adds sweetness and depth.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil—for drizzling over the top for that golden finish.
  • Optional Garnishes:
  • Fresh basil leaves—for a burst of flavor and color after baking.
  • Red chili flakes: If you like it spicy a sprinkle of these adds heat and depth.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  • In a bowl, mix together warm water, sugar, and yeast.. Stir it gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until the yeast becomes frothy.
  • Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture, and stir until it forms a sticky dough.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. If it’s too sticky, add a bit more flour, but try not to overdo it.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours in a warm place, or until it doubles in size.

Step 2: Make the Sauce

  • While your dough is rising, grab a bowl and mix together tomato sauce, oregano, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. If you like your sauce a little more tangy, feel free to add a splash of vinegar or lemon juice.

Step 3: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C), or as high as it will go. A super hot oven is essential for achieving that crispy pizza crust. If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it’s preheating to ensure the crust crisps up perfectly.

Step 4: Shape the Dough

  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles, then transfer it to a floured surface.
  • Roll out the dough with a rolling pin or stretch it by hand until it’s about 12 inches in diameter (or to your desired size). You want it thin, but not too thin to tear.

Step 5: Assemble the Pizza

  • Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet or a pizza peel if you’re using a pizza stone.
  • Spread your prepared tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
  • Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese on top, then add your halal toppings—whether it's chicken, beef, veggies, or a combination—feel free to get creative!
  • Drizzle a little olive oil over the pizza to help it bake to golden perfection.

Step 6: Bake the Pizza

  • Place the pizza in the preheated oven, directly on the pizza stone or on the baking sheet. Bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep an eye on it to avoid burning!

Step 7: Serve and Enjoy

  • Once the pizza is golden and crispy, remove it from the oven. Allow it to cool for a minute, then slice and serve.
  • Optional: Garnish with fresh basil leaves, a sprinkle of red chili flakes for heat, or even a drizzle of olive oil for extra flavor.
